Frogue
is a small community located in Cumberland County at the edge of Dale Hollow Lake State Park. It's near the Kentucky/Tennessee state border in the southern part of the state of Kentucky. The town of Frogue is the site of the Dale Hollow Park State Campgrounds. There's also a primitive camping site located on Geiger Island, which is an island in Dale Hollow Lake. Dale Hollow is one of the state's largest state parks, about 3400 acres in size and situated on a peninsula on the lake, surrounded by rolling hills and woodlands. It's especially well-known for its' smallmouth bass fishing, currently holding the world record for the largest such fish ever taken (11 lb., 15 oz). The lake also contains crappie, muskellunge, walleye, catfish, gar, and trout. The campground at Frogue offers a country store with everything from toiletries to souvenirs, camping cabins, showers, rest rooms, and a swimming pool. Other things to do at the state park include hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, caving, golf, birding and wildlife watching and miniature golf. There are over 15 miles of multi-use trails in the park that follow old logging roads along the ridge-tops that are open for hiking, horseback riding and mountain biking.

Frogue Weather & Climate

The Appalachian Mountains provide a scenic backdrop and have a significant impact on the weather of Tennessee. The climate is best described as mild with four seasons. Summers are generally warm and humid and winters are cold, but mild. Rain is common throughout the year, with thunderstorms in the spring and summer months. The humidity in summer often makes it seem warmer than it actually is in the region. Fall is crisp and cool and a good time to visit to view the brilliant foliage. Snow for the entire state is an average of 12 inches. Temperatures year round can be 10-20 degrees cooler on the mountaintops. Severe weather in Tennessee is rare since the state is east of the center of tornado activity, south of most winter blizzard conditions and too far inland for hurricanes.
