Paris
is a historic town that is the county seat of Bourbon County, located in north-central Kentucky. The population of the entire county was 19,985 as of the 2010 census. Paris was settled in 1775 on the Stoner Fork of the Licking River, approximately 113 miles east of Louisville. Nestled in the heart of Kentucky's Bluegrass Region, the city bills itself as the "Thoroughbred Capital of the World," and its' tourism motto is "Horses, History and Hospitality." The surrounding countryside is beautiful, with rolling hills and pastures, pristine farms with miles of white fencing, and horses grazing in the pastureland. Prominent historical landmarks include the Bourbon County Courthouse, the Colville Covered Bridge and the Hopewell Museum. Duncan Tavern on the Courthouse Square is a stone structure built in 1788 that is now a genealogical library that is open to the public. The Vardens Building, located on Main Street, is a wonderful example of Victorian architecture that housed a drug store from 1888 to 1953. The Shinner Building, built in 1891, is listed on Ripleys Believe it or Not as the worlds tallest three story structure. Also, the Cane Ridge Meeting House, built in 1791, is said to be the largest one-room log structure in the country. The meetinghouse is located about six miles outside the city limits. Other attractions in Paris include ARTWALK and the Nannine Clay Willis Arboretum, which contains trees and plants that date to 1850.

Northern Kentucky , about halfway between Cincinnati and Lexington, lies in a climatic transition zone at the northern edge of the humid subtropical climate and the southern edge of the humid continental climate. Spring typically begins in mid-to-late March, summer from mid-to-late-May to late September, and autumn in October-November. Severe weather is rare, but there are occasional tornado outbreaks in the region. Winter typically brings a mix of rain, sleet, and snow, with occasional heavy snowfall and icing. Summers are hazy, hot, and humid. The average annual rainfall is 44.5 inches. The wettest seasons are spring and summer, although rainfall is fairly constant year round. During the winter, particularly in January and February, several days of snow can be expected. Autumn is often the driest and sunniest of the seasons.
